Classroom For Learning
Leadership Unlimited (LU) is a planned learning program designed
to provide men and women who have demonstrated leadership ability
with the opportunity to develop their knowledge of the challenges
and opportunities of leadership within the larger Mansfield-Richland
area. Using the community as a classroom, participants are introduced
to diverse areas of the community as well as a broad spectrum of
community leaders.
LU's ultimate goal is to build leadership resources within the Mansfield-Richland
community. It encourages participants' entrance into a wider community
system of interest to them and provides broader understanding of
how various community systems can and should work.
LU is designed to identify existing and emerging community leaders,
Acquaint participants with community needs, problems and opportunities,
Provide the opportunity for participants to broaden their understanding
of the processes by which decisions are made in the Mansfield-Richland
community, and Challenge participants to offer alternative processes
for community decision-making.
Program
The LU Program, which runs rom September to June, begins with a
Friday/Saturday orientation retreat, followed by nine monthly workday
sessions relating to topics in the community. These sessions cover
such areas as:
- Government
- Education
- Courts and Public Safety
- Human and Health Services
- Culture and Recreation
- Business, Industry, Labor
- Economics
LU is designed to
- Identify existing and emerging community leaders;
- Acquaint participants with community needs, problems and opportunities;
- Provide the opportunity for participants to broaden their understanding
of the processes by which decisions are made in the Mansfield-Richland
community;
- Challenge participants to offer alternative processes for community
decision-making.
Participants
A Maximum of thirty participants will be selected annually from a
cross-section of the community, representing such areas as business,
the arts, religion, education, community and civic groups, organized
labor, minority organizations, government, and the professions.

Selection
Candidates selected for the LU program will possess a sincere commitment,
motivation and interest to server the Mansfield-Richland community.
LU seeks participants who have archived high levels of leadership
in their respective areas of influence within the community.
Nominations and request for applications from all segments of the
community are encouraged and may be made by completing this

A selection committee will review all completed applications
and select those applicants who have demonstrated exceptional commitment,
present leadership ability, and a desire to server their community.
Cost
The full year cost of the program is $1,000.00. Payment plans may
be arranged, In addition, financial aid is available. Tuition should
be met by the participant and his or her sponsoring organization
or employer.
Commitment
LU requires that a participant have the full support of the organization
he or she represents and should plan on full attendance at each
monthly session. The participant must attend the entire opening
retreat.
